Living
Garden Center Services provides several residential options. Each is designed to have a home-like feeling, while meeting the individual's needs and capabilities. All are given the opportunity to exercise choice, access their surrounding communities, and share in household duties beside staff.
Group Homes (CILAs)
Most Garden Center participants live in single-family homes known as Community Integrated Living Arrangements (CILAs). These single family homes are currently located in Burbank, Chicago Ridge, Cicero, LaGrange Park, and Westmont, and provide the greatest opportunity for independent living. With staff guidance, individuals are supported to make decisions regarding the running of their household. They plan and prepare meals, clean and upkeep the property, and help prepare the budget for the household. Our program also provides supports to persons with developmental disabilities who live in own their own apartments, homes or within a L’Arche community.
Intermediate Care Facilities for persons with Developmental Disabilities (ICF/DD):
ICF/DD facilities, located in Burbank and Berwyn, are larger, 16-bedroom homes for individuals who have profound cognitive disabilities or physical limitations. These facility settings provide 24-hour supervision and medical services. Residents make choices within their living environment, then plan social, recreational, and community activities with staff assistance.
